Today was the first day of my summer vacation. I didn’t sleep in like I planned. Instead, I got up early and helped Mom clean the living room. In the afternoon, I finished my math homework for the first week. It feels good to start vacation productively. Dad said we might go hiking this weekend. I really hope so!

My cousin came over today. We decided to bake cookies. It was a mess! We spilled flour, and the first batch was a little burnt. But they still tasted delicious. We laughed so much. Mom took a picture of our flour-covered faces. I’ll keep it forever.

I finally finished reading “The Little Prince” in English. It was challenging, but I used a dictionary for the hard words. The story is different from when I read it in Chinese. I felt sad when the fox said goodbye. Rain tapped on the window, matching my mood. I wrote down five new words in my notebook.

Summer vacation is almost over. Today I sorted all my books and prepared my school bag. Looking back, I didn’t travel far, but every day was full. I learned to cook scrambled eggs, finished two English books, and grew a sunflower on the balcony. It’s tall now. My English diary has 20 entries. It’s not just practice; it’s my summer.
