People say home is where the heart is. For me, home is a *all, warm apartment that holds my whole world. It’s not a palace, but every corner hums with the music of our daily life.

Our living room is the heart of this little world. The sofa, slightly worn from years of use, is where we gather. Evenings here are my favourite. Dad claims his armchair, reading news on his tablet, occasionally sharing a funny headline. Mum is often on the sofa, her fingers flying as she knits a scarf, the soft click-clack of her needles a comforting rhythm. I usually sprawl on the carpet, textbooks spread around me, pretending to study but mostly listening to them talk about their day—the price of vegetables, a nice colleague, or plans for the weekend. The old TV is often on, mostly for background noise, unless we find a movie we all agree on, which is a rare and celebrated event.

Then there’s the kitchen, Mum’s kingdom and the source of our world’s warmth. The *ell of ginger and scallions sizzling in oil is the signature scent of our home. Dad sometimes ventures in to help, often resulting in more mess than assistance, but Mum just shakes her head with a *ile. I set the *all foldable table, the clatter of plates announcing dinner is ready. Our meals are never quiet. We talk over each other, share bits of food, and laugh. This square table is where stories are exchanged and *all troubles melt away.

My bedroom is my personal territory within this world. Posters of my favourite bands are peeling at the corners, and books overflow from the shelf. It’s where I retreat to dream, study, or just be alone. Yet, the door is never fully closed. Mum often walks in with a plate of fruit, a silent gesture of care. Dad might pop his head in to ask about a phone problem. Their presence, even briefly, connects my private space to the heart of our home.

The rhythms of our little world are simple. Saturday mornings mean cleaning together, with Dad vacuuming clumsily and me complaining about wiping windows. Sunday afternoons might involve a trip to the supermarket, a grand expedition where we debate over which brand of soy sauce to buy. We have our secret languages too—a certain glance from Mum means “help me change the subject,” Dad’s raised eyebrow means “this is getting boring,” and my sigh means “I need a break from homework.”

This is my home, my little world. It isn’t defined by grand events or perfect moments. It’s built from the mundane stuff: the *ell of laundry, the sound of the kettle whistling, the familiar creak of the hallway floorboard. It’s a world held together by routine, casual touch, and the quiet, unwavering knowledge that here, within these walls, I am completely known and always belong. This *all apartment contains my universe, and its story is written in the ordinary, beautiful language of us.
